The Deanbank herd of pedigree Dexter cattle

We chose to raise Dexter cattle for a number of reasons. They were classed as a rare breed until recently and, while this is no longer the case, they are certainly not common.   We wanted to help to preserve this breed that are good “all-rounders” meaning that they produce good milk and beef. They are very small which makes them a bit easier on the ground. Most importantly, they taste great.

Here’s a photo of our   two cows: Chough (strange name for a cow – better for a wee bird perhaps) and Georgina.   Paddy bought them for Pauline’s birthday in 2007 (already pregnant) and they produced two lovely calves in the autumn. Rosie will be our milk cow eventually and Dennis will taste great

In calf red dexter cow for sale

Due to a shortage of grass and an excess of mud we are forced to reduce our already very small herd of registered dexter cows. We are there for selling chough she is a red non-short Dexter cow (seen above). Chough is 6 years old this year and has had several calves she has not required any help with any of them. She is currently in calf to a registered black Dexter bull. She can be seen with her 7 month old heifer calf.

If you woul dlike more information or to see chough please contact info@deanbank.org.uk
